Vinctifer comptoni from Brazil

The following fossil fish is a Vinctifer comptoni from the Santana formation of Brazil. The lower Cretaceous Santana formation is renowned for fossils found in concretions that exhibit excellent preservation of soft tissues. Vinctifer was a large(this specimen itself measures 19 inches long) predatory fish that resembled the modern day barracuda.  This particular specimen has a repaired break near the middle and exhibits very detailed and well preserved scales.
